My Grandmother has always been there for the community. For over 40 years she has ran a badminton club for youths and has seen 2 generations participate. She has also run a sunday school every week for her local methodist church for over 40 years as well and ensured it remains an intricate part of the church community. As well as both of these activities which are at the centre of her village my Grandma has also led a youth group for teenagers who have little else to do within the village. Her ability to communicate with all ages so effectively alongside her determination to continue these activities for the community, even when family matters arise, has amazed me for years. As an ex- P.E. teacher my Grandmother's love of sport has inspired her to sustain a popular youth table tennis club for a many number of years within the village. This shows her dedication to the community even at an elderly age, which is why she deserves more than any other this opportunity. She also runs two keep fit classes a week, one for the elder generation in the local community hall and another in the local town for stroke victims. As well as a member of the local W.I. my grandma has become the glue behind the family. Heavily supporting her disabled Grandson when unwell and supporting both her husband and daughter in Cancer remission I can think of no other who puts the same level of dedication and patience into her life to truly make her a worthy torchbearer and a person to be admired.
