I had the pleasure to work with Bally when she was nominated as the 'Face of First' to promote British Airways First brand. Bally's story began shortly after she gave birth, after wanting a child for so long she discovered that she had a rare form of cancer; placental site based cancer. This is a form of choriocarcinoma which is cancer that develops during pregnancy. The cancer had spread to her lungs & spine, resulting in Bally using the ability to walkand eventually also the loss of her long beautiful hair. Bally was of course unable to fly and spent much of her time in hospital whilst trying to nurse her newborn baby. She fought the disease with outstanding courage. She was determined to fly again.
After a year of chemo, physio operations and pure determination she eventually made it back to walking strength with a full bill of health and the cancer in remission. Most recently completing the 26 mile Ediinburgh Moon Walk in which she raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research.
Her determination and courage enabled her to return to the job she loves. With a story that is an inspiration to others showing anything is possible. To carry the torch would be another great achievement for Bally. She has come so far and her energy and her will to raise awareness and help others is outstanding.... I sincerely hope she will be chosen to carry the torch.
