Anya's nomination story

After combatting and fully serviving meningites at the age of 9 months Anya is and always will be a very Special and remarkable Child. Our family 'won the lottery' the day the doctors said she was cured. Going into infant-hood she had the making of a very gifted and talented girl. Her Mum joined her into a Gymnastic Club which she enjoyed. After that she followed her sister Alicia into swiming for the Anchor Swimming Club and appeared in the Barnsley & Lincolnshire swimming league. For active sports life she was awarded the 'Young Girls Sports Achievers of the Year award 2009' this was presented to her by the then Scunthorpe Football teams Coach, Mr. Nigel Atkins. This was a thrilling moment for all the family and school friends . Our Local paper has followed Anya's progress due to her illness and at regular intervals and taken and pubilshed updated pictures of her. This is quite an inspiration for other children who wish to achieve, with hard work and determination. Now the swimming and Gymnastics have passed her by she is fully committed to her Netball which she started to grow into 18 month ago and has recently competed in the Lincolnshire League with trials at Loughborough University . She plays football for App-Frod football Club. Anya plays every sport to the best of her ability and enjoys every minute. I know she has many friends who admire her ability and we hope inspires them. A friendly and charming girl, full of hope for her future.
