Tony has been an athlete for 50 years and a member of Yate & District AC since it was formed. He has run the London Marathon and other marathons around the world, finishing one race in Malta on his knees.
He is an official and committee member for the club, turning out in all weathers to prepare the track for competitions. For many years he has managed a large team of youngsters in the National Young Athletes League, ensuring that they always perform to the best of the their ability. Under his guidance the team reached the Premier Division of the league, where it has competed well for several years.
He still competes for the club's senior team when they really need him, though he would be the first to admit that his times are not what they once were.
Tony's story is about the value he gives to the club and to athletics in our area rather than any personal glory. He is modest about his own achievements, but delights in those of the children he manages and encourages.
