Tony Browne

My son lives in Northern Ireland. He works with children of all ages from all communities and teaches them how to set up their own businesses, (a vital service to show to the young the value of enterprise and working together as a community, (especially in the spirit of forgiveness and understanding that is so needed in that area). In the past he also worked in adventure centres with children of all ages and does Search and Rescue on a volunteer basis. He is a great athlete and sportsman and a beacon that shines and is full of the love of life! He would do anything to help anyone and is such a happy person who exudes fun, compassion and understanding! He has had a very challenging life and triumphed over all adversity. As I live in the Republic, I feel that he would be an excellent Torchbearer to bring the torch to the Republic to show to the world that all the hard work of the Peace Process and together with the Queens visit to the Republic that after hundreds of years of hatred and anger, that at least you can bow to the past and work together for the future with a new love and understanding. I cannot think of a person who is the epitome of all that bearing the torch represents or of someone more deserving than Tony in the spirit of the Olympic Games.
