Tony's nomination story

(UK Power Networks) Tony (68) has been a tower lineman his working life, and although now retired, still works a minimum of two days a week for UK Power Networks helping to train up and coming tower linemen. His little grandson Oliver was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer in April 2006, but sadly lost his long brave fight with the disease in November 2007 aged 9. This had a major affect on the family, and they wanted Oliver's courage to live on, so in January 2008 Tony supported his family to set up the Oliver Curd Trust. Through their relentless charity work, they've raised well over £100,000 to help countless families in time of need. The money is used to purchase mobile homes where children suffering from cancer can have a break and some respite at the seaside, with their families. Tony is a great person and fantastic mentor!
