Jill's nomination story

Jill started umpiring over 40 years ago and passed her Umpire Tutor awards in 1995, since which time she has been the only qualified Umpire Tutor in Cambridgeshire, regularly running training courses across the levels, rules forums and umpiring tests progressing, in 2008 to became the lead mentor for the County, setting up the mentoring programme and running workshops to train her mentoring team and directly mentoring umpires to attain new advanced qualifications. Furthermore, Jill started her career in Netball administration at league level by becoming the Cambridge Premier League Chairman and has held the position for over 10 years steering them through many changes. Jill also took on the role of County Netball Association Chair, at a time when they were technically insolvent and put in place the changes necessary to re-establish the Association, and she has been able to train up a new committee, ensuring the County is stable for the future so she could stand down at the 2011 AGM. Throughout her Netball career she has not only found the need to progress her skills but has devoted her spare time to assist others. Jill is also a level 2 coach, for a period assisted with County U16 & U18 teams in an assistant capacity and is still regularly coaching not one but two teams, one a club with juniors and adults, the other a Back to netball group.
