Angela's nomination story

When Angela joined a local Scout Group 25yrs ago, membership was dwindling. Without her efforts it would have folded but she single-handedly turned the Group around - it now has 5 sections and 130 members, despite the fact that it draws members from small local villages. Angela has repeatedly rejected promotion to District Commissioner level in order to keep the Group alive and was awarded a Medal of Merit for her dedication. Angela gives a huge amount of her leisure time to Scouting activities, whilst at the same time holding down a demanding job as Chief Executive of a £14m turnover company. Over the years she has managed activities to raise many £'000s for various charities. Most recently, she raised £24,000 to subsidise a visit to America for 27 Scouts - allowing each to pay a nominal fee regardless of their background. Her selfless philosophy is to do her best to 'give the kids a good time'!
