Andrew's nomination story

I feel immensely proud to be one of the individuals that have been given the opportunity to take part in the London 2012 Torch Relay. I have always enjoyed sport and in recent years I have competed in several half marathons and this year took on a personal challenge, a 28 mile coastal off road marathon which also allowed me to fundraise for a chosen charity. Now I have my own children I value even more the role that sport can play in a child's life and each Friday evening I help to coach Kingsbridge RFC under 11's team. It is a great thrill to see them growing in agility and tactically grasping the game, both during training and when competing against other teams. And now the boys are also gaining from the new friendships that they have formed through sport. My involvement with junior rugby is a small way of putting something back into the game given the enjoyment I had as a player. I hope my involvement with the 2012 Olympics will inspire the boys to continue their interest in sport for many years to come.
