Andy's nomination story

Andy has volunteered his time freely over many years for the benefit of others. Andy co-founded a running club in the 80's which now flourishes with over 400 members. Andy proudly developed a junior section which encouraged and produced many young athletes including one Olympic hopeful who is now ranked just behind Mo Farah in the UK. Andy has coached and set schedules for all ages and levels including London Marathon 'virgins'. He set up a track and field section and started a cross-country league, and was an official course measurer. He has raised much money for charity with his own running in the classic marathons such as New York, Boston, Athens and Rotterdam. Andy has enjoyed running ultra distances in a day like the South Downs 80 miler. His contributions to others would make him an ideal and grateful candidate for this unique, never to be forgotten experience.
