Andrew's nomination story

Andy is the kindest most genuine guy i have worked with and know,he has served his community as a police officer for over 20yrs,during which time he has been injured in the line of duty quite badly. in 2004 he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of testicular cancer, which to date he has managed to overcome, after having surgery and having the diseased testicle removed. since 2006 he has managed to raise over £23,000 for cancer research, for which he himself asks for no praise,he quietly fund raises for them,he also speaks to other suffers on behalf of cancer research. this year he came up with a new fundraising idea for the charity a doggie dash around a nearby lake. he set the whole idea and event up whereby families could walk/run with their family pets around the lake. this raised over £3500,and was that succsessfull that cancer research are considering rolling out the fundraising format nationwide. during his illness, which looked like it may have returned earlier this year, andy has continued with his love of sport, continuing to play 5 a side regularly, along with golf and horse riding, and this year he has taken up the sport of fell running and to date after a few months training he has now competed in 2 fra organized races with more planned!!!! to me he sybolizes all that is good and great in an olympian, his humility kindness and yet great determination to compete and give his all for the benifit of others make him my baton nominee
