Andy's nomination story

Andy comes from a deprived ward a lot of his peers have taken the wrong decisions in their young lives. Andy used to hang around with these people but approached us about helping out with coaching. Andy soon 'signposted' other young people from his ward to our sessions, ensuring that these young people used their free time more constructively. Andy then saved up his ISA to pay for his own coaching qualification so he could be paid staff. Before this, we put Andy through his community Sports Leaders Award. Andy didn't do very well at school, but that didn't stop him working hard at coaching and volunteering to better his circumstances. Andy's person earns respect from his peers, parents and colleagues. He always makes sure the young people who attend have fun, he values their opinions and gives respect which means the young people want to come back.
