Andrew's nomination story

I wish to nominate Andrew for his dedication to the sport of hockey, he will be 71 on 20.8.11 and has been playing hockey since the age of 14. During his career he has played at club and county level, and then progressed to Masters (veterans) hockey. He was invited to join the England LX Club (over 60's) and has played in European and World Championships for England in over 60's, over 65's and over 70's winning Bronze, Silver and Gold medals (the latest was gold for over 70's in the world championships Sept 2010). He received the 2006 'Service to Sport' award from the Barrow in Furness sports council which touched him deeply as he was nominated by those who knew him best and appreciated all the work he did at school, club, county and national level. During his career he has held a number of positions on Cumbria County Hockey Association including president and was also coaching development officer for Cumbria. Andrew also coaches juniors and umpires at all levels and still turns out to play for his local club. He is a constant source of support and guidance to the local and wider hockey community at all levels. Shows no sign of slowing down and known locally as the Peter Pan of hockey!
