Andy's nomination story

As a teacher and then university lecturer Andy has dedicated his life to the development of young people. Regardless of their age, he has a respect for them and knows the importance of their voice and opinions. Andy has given 20 years to sport volunteering in various capacities; coaching, managing and contributing to multi sport events including the Commonwealth and Olympic Games. He has delivered Olympic values programmes since 1992 and inspired a number of young athletes from all four home nations. His passion for the Olympic values is evident in both his work and personal life. Friends and colleagues know that they can always depend Andy and his students admire not only the knowledge he generously shares with them but also his ability to make them feel valued, inspiring them to always strive for their personal best. He manages to make a positive difference to any environment he is in motivating others to make a difference in their lives.
