Andrew's nomination story

Andrew is an inspiring person who is passionate about sport, not only for elite athletes but for every member of society. He began volunteering in the Commonwealth Games 2002, an experience which shaped his passion for helping others to achieve in their sport, and enabling the public to be a part of events. By 2012, Andrew will have spent ten years freely giving his time, enthusiasm and effort to sporting events. Andrew has enjoyed every moment of his time working within teams, driven by his commitment to promoting and supporting sporting excellence. In 2003 he volunteered at the World Indoor Championships in Athletics in Birmingham, he also marshalled at the Tour of Britain and the Tour de France. In 2007 he volunteered at the European Indoor Athletics Championships and also at the Archery World cup. In 2008 Andrew volunteered at the World Swimming Championships (25m) in Manchester, while in 2009 he gave his time at the World Half Marathon Championship in Birmingham. During 2010 he increased his efforts by volunteering at the Modern Pentathlon World Cup, the European Gymnastic Championship in Birmingham, the Womens Hockey Champions Trophy in Nottingham, and the Womens Rugby World Cup in Surrey. Finally, for the moment at least, in 2011 Andrew has volunteered at the Modern European Pentathlon in Medway. He has always dedicated his spare time and holidays to volunteering for a variety of sporting events because he loves sport and its ability to change lives.
