Andre's nomination story

Andre is the lead Cisco instructor for Newham College's Regional Cisco Academy. Since qualifying as a Cisco Academy Instructor, Andre has been involved with recruiting and teaching Cisco Academy courses to Secondary school teachers and instructors from other Cisco Local Academies. as part of the LOCOG/ Cisco project to provide high quality industry standard training schools and colleges in the five Olympic London boroughs. Setting-up Local Cisco Academies in schools and colleges and providing industry standard IT & Networking training to pupils and the local community will widen participation and create opportunities for the local population.

Andre is also involved in the PIANO (Providing Innovation And New Opportunities) project in which he supports unemployed ex-offenders with their studies while they are enrolled on the Cisco Academy programme. The overall aim of PIANO is to support unemployed ex-offenders (20 years and above) into sustainable jobs.

During the World Skills event in London, Andre assisted Cisco in preparing their equipment which was used in the IT network systems administration competition. Andre also assisted visitors at the Cisco/ Newham College "Have a go stand" along with other Newham College staff and students.
