Amy became Britain's newest sporting hero after sliding to a historic gold medal in the Bob Skeleton competition at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. She ended the 30 year wait for an individual British Winter Olympic gold medal in emphatic style, breaking the track record twice on one of the fastest and most dangerous tracks in the world. As a track and field athletic, Amy only started her sliding career in 2002 but what makes her achievements even more credible is that there is no ice track in Britain and for many of our winter athletes the determination to succeed must shine through. Amy triumphed in the face of adversity and endeared herself to the nation in the process with her infectious enthusiasm and love for her sport.
