Amy James

amy is a 23 year old who was diagnosed with type one diabetes in 2000. after a time she realised that she could overcome her condition and pushed really hard to achieve her life goal of becomming a sailing instructor. she passed her dinghy instructors course in 2006 and has since been teaching people from all walks of life to enjoy sailing. she has taught young and old and children with disabillities. she volunteers in the sea cadet corps to pass on the knowledge she has learnt to a younger generation, and Girlguiding alike. amy has always taken part in diabetes research to help improve the lives of others. over the years she has been refused many things. for example when volunteering at ilfracombe lifeboat she was refused a position on the boat as crew because of her diabetes. amy is a very strong willed and passionate woman who always gives back far more than she expects from others.
