Amy has been an inspirational sports leader and volunteer in and around our school. Being a year older than me, I have always aspired to be as good a young leader as she is and looked up to Amy as an individual. She has always had a large involvement in netball and has helped organise and run many netball tournaments for both our school and the surrounding primary schools. However, she has taken on a number of challenges, and coached a wide variety of activities, including special needs sports days. She is particularly patient and understanding of these children, and has the ability to involve all in some aspect of sport, introducing new innovative games appropriate for them to play. I believe the time and effort Amy has put into helping young children become involved in sport is creditable and I would be happy to be half the coach she is. The fact she has inspired young adults and children to both participate and/or become coaches has been an asset to our community. I would like to, on behalf of our school community, thank Amy by giving her the opportunity to carry the Olympic torch.
