I am nominating Amir Ameen who is 17 years old and in our 6th Form at Queen Elizabeth's High School, Gainsborough. He has acted as a Leader in the Cherry Willingham Leadership Academy, helping with Primary School festivals and conpetitions. Amir has also acted as an Ambassador in mentoring younger gifted and talented pupils in the Leadership Pod in school. As one of two Platinum Ambassadors, he planned and presented the Adistar Leaders training day in which they were tasked with exploring ideas on the Olympic legacy. Anna Hemmings MBE gave an inspiring presentation on her Olympic experiences, and this complemented Amir's focus on the Olympic values and making a positive impact on the community. He has captained School football and badminton teams and has played in rugby, athletics and cross country teams. He has been on NGB coaching courses for these sports and is taking the Community Sports Leaders Award and hopes to use these in the future. Out of school, Amir has been given funding by the FA to enable him to volunteer as a coach at Doncaster Rovers Disability Football Club where he is also working to improve their facilities. He has been selected by the County FA to attend this years FA National Football Futures Camp and has applied for the FA Coach's Scholarship programme. On behalf of the Headteacher and myself I have no hesitation in nominating Amir as our torch bearer because of his inspiration and excellence within school and out.
