Amber's nomination story

Amber is a 2 times World Champion Kickboxer and 6 times British Champion. She became Scotland's 1st ever World Champion in 2008 in Kata forms and silver in points fighting. She repeated this feat in 2010 and in 2011 she won her first Amateur full contact fight becoming a Scottish title belt holder. Amber is very keen to give back some of the time and skills she has benefited from over the last 10 year and does around 40 hours a month of volunteering, helping to inspire many more young sports people. Amber has completed a 3 year teacher training course for Kickboxing and now uses this qualification to plan lessons and teach people from the age of 4 to adults. She also works with children with Additional Support Needs to help them find enjoyment in sport. Not only does she volunteer all this time to coach Kickboxing, but she also judges and referees regularly at events. Amber is not only involved in Kickboxing, she also coaches Cheerleading, in school and at a club. She is a coach/captain with the school team and helped them to 2nd place in the Nationals. Amber was selected for a Leadership programme from hundreds of other people after being nominated by her school. Through this she is now volunteering even more of her time to help out at events like the Aviva Inter-schools Disability Athletics event and other local, national and international sports events. Amber lives for sport and she gains huge satisfaction in developing health, skills and confidence in herself and others.
