Alison's nomination story

Alison is an inspiring person who started to lose her sight as a very young woman, but has continued to live her life to the full. She is very involved in the local charity supporting those with sight impairment - Sight Support Ryedale - as a member, a volunteer in the resource centre - and a trustee. She always seeks to have a positive outlook, and is such an encouragement to others - not just to other members struggling with sight loss, but to everyone she meets. She's also down-to-earth, practical, and with a great sense of humour. She'd love the opportunity to be in the Olympic torch relay, and would carry it out with panache. Alison is on the right in the photo, together with her guide dog, Jack.
