Alexis has been a sportsgirl from 5 years of age. She was a Dorset gymnastics champion, then went on to represent Bournemouth Dorset and the South West in athletics all over the country in sprints, hurdles and pole vault. She took part in the National Cross Country championship, a rare and wonderful experience. She has gained 2 degrees concerning athletics and is currently a sports lecturer in Bournemouth University. She also is an accomplished net ball player. When 19 she had an accident and it was thought she had broken her neck. Happily she had not ! She devotes her time in helping others achieve their goals in sports and it would be a thank you for all she does for others. She particularly likes to encourage youngsters in the local schools and helps organise sports days. Ask anyone who has worked with her or knows her about her dedication to sport and the way she interacts with others with her enthusiasm and understanding about all aspects of sport. She is also marrying on August 22nd this year to a wonderful sportsman Richard, a local rugby coach. To be one of the chosen to carry the Olympic torch would not only be the greatest honour but to say a thank you to Alexis for a life time of dedication to sport.
