I am Alex's mum.Alex is 22 and my middle son.

He is a humble young man who has given of his time for many years now with setting up a local football team for teenagers who have grown into lovely young men. He also looks after his younger brother, who has Autism, and is teaching him to run the side line . He is also a carer for me as I am partially sighted and have Rheumatism. His job is as a teaching assistant and excells at this as he has a special report with the kids. He also helps with the school special needs football team encouraging many children to have a go, as with his brother , they dont have to be star football player, there is a job for everyone.

Alex suffered badly when his father left home, his father was an alcoholic, he was very introverted but his passion with sport, and I mean any sport, and his ability to share and encourage others has given me a huge sense of pride and admiration for him and I believe him to be deserving of running the torch for Britain as he is an inspiration for other young people to make things happen in their areas not wait for adults to do it for them.
