Alex's nomination story

I was the Fundraising Representative for Lloyds Banking Group for the UK Challenge 2010. This challenge features teams of 6 individuals, of which Lloyds Banking Group entered 12. Whilst predominantly a physical and mental challenge, there is a strong emphasis on fundraising for the NSPCC, to help protect children all over the UK. Fundraising activity takes place throughout the year, with each team making a pledge at the event itself in July, which they are then honour-bound to raise. Teams were formed in February 2010, with the final fundraising activities taking place in October/November. I acted as the fundraising coordinator for the Lloyds Banking Group teams, setting pledge targets of £12,000 per team and working with the teams to ensure they hit these. This was especially challenging after completion of the Challenge in July, where the momentum waned due to conflicting priorities for many participants. I also coordinated and carried out fundraising activities for my team of 6 specifically. Fundraising initiatives ranged from Corporate Sponsorship of UK Challenge uniforms, to Quiz Nights, raffles, collection tin fundraising, and everything in between! We received the Corporate Fundraising Trophy for the UK Challenge 2010. The Lloyds Banking Group UK Challenge contingent were brought on stage in front of all our peers at the event to receive this. My UK Challenge team of 6 also hit their pledge target of £12,000.
