Tony's nomination story

Tony Stonham is an inspiration to people of all ages. He is 75 years young and started running at the age of 52. He has ran the London Marathon 16 times, including 2011, and has raised loads of money for charity over the years. The charities he has helped have included the Donkey sanctuary Sidmouth, the Meningitis Trust and Demelza House . He is the Chairman of Sittingbourne Striders and campaigns to get people of all ages to join the local running group. People in the group are at all levels from complete beginners to enthusiastic runners. Tony completed Lands End to John o'Groats at the ripe old age of 65 covering 30 miles a day for 30 days. He has even covered the Seven Sisters Marathon 16 times. This would be a great honour at this time in his life to take part in carrying the Olympic torch. All of his friends think he is very deserving of this once in a life time chance.
