Albi's nomination story

This time last year Albi, who runs the local cafe and which is the heart of the community, was diagnosed with a heart condition and was told that any over exertion would be dangerous and advised that all excersise would have to cease with immediate effect. His badminton, football and running would have to be put to the side and replaced with long period of rest. Having successfuly undergone a procedure to assist his heart to work better in September last year, he celebrated by organising a 256 mile bike ride from Anglesey to Cardiff in aid of the British Heart Foundation. Living in a small town like Nefyn, which has had a lot of bad publicity in the past, community spirit is normally at a low, however Albi hasbrought the community together to assist him with his challenge with 17 of the local men joining him on the ride. Albi was advised by his Dr that such a challenge was beyond the advised excersise for a man of his condition, such was the support by locals however the Dr decided to join him on the ride to allow Albi to proceed. Albi has inspired the local community like no one else with coverage on in the local papers and national radio. The amount raised after 1 month is in the region of £5,000 with people donating everyday and offering to help in all kind of ways. Not only has Albi managed to get himself back to health he has also assisted others in the community to live a healthier life and promoted the importance of a healthy heart.
