Alastair's nomination story

Al is a Round Tabler and is also an Explorer Scout Leader. He is the Event Director for Ebley Fireworks Show in October each year which raises c£14K pa for local charities. He has been doing this for over 10 years. As an Explorer Scout Leader Al organises various events and activities for the 50 plus local explorer scouts ranging from week long camps(abroad and UK),weekends away and away days.This provides an important and active programme for young people in the Stroud area

Ebley Fireworks. Alastair is Event Director responsible for the event on the day he takes 2 days holiday to run the event where 8,000 people from the local community attent to watch the fireworks and enjoy the entertainment. The run up to the event Alastair spends many evenings co ordinating the event and organisation team. Raises £14K a year that is given away to loacl charities and good causes. Al has helped raise in excess of £100K over his time with the Ebley Fireworks supporting many local chrities and good causes.

Explorer Scouts, Alastair spend in excess of 100 hours a year on Scouts, taking the young people on at least a 1 week camp every year this is taken as holiday from the bank. He 6-7 weekends a year on events as well as days, all in his own time. This involves him organising and cordinating other to help run the event. Recent Camp have been to Snowdonia, The Brecon Beacons, Germany and the Netherlands.
