Akeel Ahmed

I am nominating my son; I was divorced when he was approx 11 years old. We had no income for 4 years as I went into further education to improve our financial position. He patiently listened to me ranting about how unfair life was and generally listening to my plans for the future. His listening skills helped me to forget the past and grip onto the future. He has never complained about lack of presents or holidays and in fact always has a positive word to the contrary if I feel disheartened at never having given him and his brother a quality lifestyle. He has been my rock through every turn, encouraged me to gain promotions in my career. He will this year successfully complete his higher education and receive an honours degree. I have never come across such a genuine, open minded, giving person. He has a heart of gold and such an infectious personality that draws in every one he meets. I would be so proud to see him hold the olympic torch because he is truly the gold medal of England.
