Ainsley's nomination story

Being able to complete my degree was a major achievement. Being diagnosed with a serious illness at the beginning of my final year was a massive shock. Therefore finishing my degree was in the balance, as my health took precedence. Whilst undergoing consultations and surgery, I decided to continue studying as I was so close to the finish line. That has proven to be one of the most decisive decisions in my life to date and it has paid dividends, as I worked twice as hard to catch up and managed achieve the highest grade in my school. This tenacity in my opinion, makes me the right person to represent Brunel, as I have shown determination, courage and excellence to overcome these hurdles. Moreover, I featured in the top 10 of the Future Leaders magazine, acting as an ambassador for Brunel which was endorsed and supported by Boris Johnson. As a result of spearheading a community project called ?Football Mania? which aims to bring young people off the streets and uses football as a medium to foster teamwork, discipline and communication skills.
