Adrian's nomination story

Amelia Rose Sutton was conceived by IVF and born on 10th December 2010, by emergency c-section after reduced fetal movement.

She was rushed to neonatal intensive care where we were told that Amelia had sustained severe brain damage after lying on her umbilical cord which left her with severe cerebral palsy, delayed development and movement. Amelia is unable to feed as she has no suck or swallow reflex.

The medical term for her condition is HIE (Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy).

Amelia requires 24hr care 7 days a week which is provided by myself and my partner.

Amelia's illness has meant that she has spent half of her life in and out of hospital.

To aid Amelia's development and improve her quality of life we have set up a trust known as HART (Help Amelia Rose Trust) to provide funding for a purpose built sensory room and much needed private physio sessions.
