Adrian's nomination story

Adrian (47) has learning difficulties and has represented GB in the special Olympics (Madrid 1991) and won numerous medals, in other competitions, which his mother, widowed and blind, looks after for him. Adrian is best explained as kind and considerate in more ways than one to other people; not wanting anything for himself only to give and support others.. especially his mother and colleagues. Locals are aware of Adrians sporting past but only recently when he was attacked and beaten up for basically just being Adrian, this made the local press. Adrian believes that age has no boundaries or barriers when it comes to sport as he still competes but at lower level(s) in track and field events against younger competitors who also have learning difficulties yet could be considered far fitter than Adrian. It is then Adrians ability to overcome the afore mentioned difficulties life throws at Adrian that we believe he should , and would be honored to, carry and the Olympic torch
