Adele's nomination story

Adele is an inspiration to all her friends and family. She was diagnosed with Bi Lateral Ovarian Cancer in 2009 and had to undergo six sessions of chemotherapy as well as a full hysterectomy. Through all this she never lost her spirit and belief that she would be well again, and worked tirelessly to raise awareness and money for cancer charities. On Ladies Day at Ascot, even when her bloods were too low to have her session of chemo, Adele got dressed up, put all the TV`s on in the ward and got all the other patients betting on the races - they thought she was a celebrity until she took her wig and hat off. Adele has raised over £20k for The Eve Appeal and Cancer Research so far, including doing loads of PR on local radio stations, etc to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer, together with lobbying the government for all women to get the CA125 blood test. Her next fundraising event is a Spring Ball in June where she aims to raise a further £3k for Cancer Research. Just 12 months after finishing chemo Adele ran the 2010 Great North Run and is now a keen horsewoman having started to compete in showjumping events, together with helping organise them too - she just never stops! Above all, Adele has remained a beaustiful person inside and out, never letting her illness get her down. As I said she is an inspiration to all that know her, and truely deserves the honour of carrying the olympic torch. Thanks to other Facebook mates Karen, Emma, Louise, Jan, Alison and Manx.
