Inspired by his father's battle against cancer and the amazing care he received from Wycombe Hospital's Haematology Department, Adam decided to raise money for the hospital. He entered the Marathon Des Sables, a 6 day, 150 mile race through the Sahara Desert. Before this he had never run further than 6 miles in one go and hated long distance running! Despite temperatures as high as 50 degrees Celsius and losing most of the skin of the soles of his feet, Adam completed the race. Since then he has completed a number of other endurance events including the Trans-Rockies, a 7 day mountain bike race across the Canadian Rockies, 350+ miles and ascending over 17,500m (equivalent of climbing Mt Everest twice). He did these events to highlight the great work carried out by the Haematology Department and to raise money for their charity; in the process of completing these events Adam has raised nearly £25,000. Adam is a great guy and I am proud to nominate him.
