In September 2010 my daughter Abby became one of the youngest people to swim the English Channel in a time of 14 hours and 43 minutes, aged just 16 years and 12 days old. In doing this, she raised over £1500 for Demelza House Childrens Hospice through fundraising and sponsorship. After her swim she visited local primary schools to inspire younger children with her story. In addition, Abby has been volunteering at her local karate club for over eighteenth months helping teach young people as well as volunteering within her school with sports clubs and events for younger pupils and local primary school pupils as part of gaining her sports leadership qualification.
