The Olympic Park construction workforce is expected to peak at around 10,000. Combined with the Olympic Village and the Stratford City development, construction demand could reach around 20,000 between summer 2009 and 2011.

A construction plant training centre opened on the Olympic Park site in February 2008. Minister for the Olympics Tessa Jowell and Olympic Delivery Authority Chairman John Armitt pictured with Construction College staff and trainees.

The centre provides practical and classroom based training and courses on equipment such as dumpers, telescopic handlers and excavators.
