A look at what life will be like for athletes in the Olympic Village during the 2012 Games.

In 2012, the Olympic Village will be home to over 14,000 athletes and officials during the Olympic Games and 4,200 during the Paralympic Games. They will find everything they need while they are there.

The rooms will be fully accessible and take into account other needs – for example, extra-long beds for the taller athletes like rowers and handball players.

A 5,000 seat dining room will serve food catering to all tastes and dietary needs, throughout the day. Plus there will be more informal places to eat, including cafes.

International newspapers will keep them up-to-date with their home news; there will be WiFi and internet access so they can contact their family and friends.

It will be easy to get to the nearby training facilities, which they’ll use to prepare for their events, for example at Eton Manor in the north of the Park during the Olympic Games.

There will be plenty of opportunity to relax too – with a games room, cinema and health spa. Plus, residents will be able to access their home nation television through computers and interactive televisions.

When they’re not competing, athletes will be able to watch other events and also enjoy the cultural activity on big screens.

Beyond the sporting activity, there will be easily accessible information on offer about London and other city attractions, so athletes can enjoy everything the UK has to offer.
