As the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games draw to a close, London 2012 organisers have been taking advantage of the final opportunity to experience and learn from an Olympic Games, before London becomes the next Olympic Host City.

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) released new images today showing the completed cladding on the International Broadcast Centre (IBC) and the Main Press Centre (MPC) reaching its full height.

The team behind London 2012’s sports participation programme ‘International Inspiration’, Sebastian Coe (London 2012 Chair), Tessa Jowell (Olympics Minister) and Keith Mills (London 2012 Vice-Chair & Chair of International Inspiration Foundation), have moved to guarantee a long term global legacy for the first global sports participation programme ever delivered by an Organising Committee. The London 2012 chiefs have met with President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee and President of the Rio 2016 Organizing Committee Carlos Arthur Nuzman at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games to discuss an extension of the programme through to the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Rio.

Plans submitted by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) and the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) for the use of the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich and North Greenwich Arena during the London 2012 Games were given planning permission by Greenwich Council last night.

Following a competitive tender process, the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) today confirmed that First Group, based in Aberdeen, are the preferred bidder to provide hundreds of buses and coaches to transport spectators during the London 2012 Games.

London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe carried the Olympic Flame earlier today on the final day of the Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay. Receiving the torch from the 38th Governor of California and Hollywood actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Seb’s 500 metre journey began just after 0700 PST (1500 GMT).

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today announces that John Lewis has become a Tier Three Provider to London 2012 and its 26th domestic sponsor. John Lewis becomes the Official Department Store Provider to London 2012.
