Pupils at Dyke House Secondary School in Hartlepool turned oil traders today (October 16) when 84 students, aged 14 to 16, took part in an exciting roadshow focusing on mathematics and enterprise through a real-life simulation of a trading floor. Meanwhile teachers found out more about the new London 2012 enterprise resources including, ‘Have You Got What It Takes?’, where pupils compete to become an approved pre Games training camp for the London 2012 Games. Both initiatives require pupils to explore the Olympic and Paralympic Values as their teams battle to win.

Biometric hand and iris scanners have been installed for workers to access the Olympic Park construction site as part of planned measures to enhance safety and security as the ‘big build’ accelerates.

The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today unveiled the London 2012 Olympic pictograms, the visual representations of each Olympic sport which will be used in the run up to and during the Olympic Games in 2012. The 38 pictograms represent the sports and disciplines at the Games and will be used for signage, on tickets and on the field of play at Games-time, becoming an important ‘wayfinder’ tool for spectators.
