Planning applications

The planning applications for the Olympic Park and its legacy transformation were submitted by the ODA in February 2007 and approved in October 2007.

About the planning applications

The 15-volume, 10,000-page document includes plans for new sporting venues, highways, bridges, river works, utilities, parks and open space, as well as their reconfiguration for use after the Games.

The application covers 246 hectares (2.5 square kilometres) and sets out the vision for one of the largest urban parks to be built in Europe for 150 years.

The full Olympic, Paralympic & Legacy Transformation Planning Applications are made up of two core elements. The first is the Site Preparation Planning Application, which seeks permission for early works to allow the development of Games facilities and their legacy transformation.

The second is the Facilities and their Legacy Transformation Planning Application, which seeks permission for the core construction work and post-Games reconfiguration of infrastructure for legacy use.

The full applications were submitted to the ODA Planning Decisions Team (PDT) in Stratford. They were subject to a statutory 28-day public consultation period to allow members of the public to give their comments.

The ODA PDT considered the document along with feedback received in the consultation period before making recommendations to the ODA Planning Committee. The Planning Committee approved the planning applications in October 2007.

The full planning application can be viewed on the ODA PDT website. Go to the ODA PDT website.
