In determining planning applications the ODA will consult with a wide range of people and organisations.


Stakeholder and community involvement

The ODA is aware that there will be great interest in any planning applications received that relate to the 2012 Games or the legacy proposals.

In recognition of this interest, as well as the wide impact that these applications will have, the ODA Planning Committee has adopted a Consultation Strategy which sets out how the team will engage with the community and other stakeholders on planning applications, along with the Development Control Manual. The Planning Decisions Team (PDT) will carry out public consultations in accordance with statutory requirements.

Energy Centre


On Monday 17 March 2008, a planning application was submitted for the Energy Centre proposed for the Olympic Park. This application has been registered by the ODA’s PDT and a 21 day formal public consultation period is now underway. The consultation period started on Monday 14 April 2008 and is ongoing.

The PDT has sent notification letters to residents and businesses within 1km from the Energy Centre, plus many other key interested stakeholders. In addition, statutory notices have been published in local newspapers and site notices posted up in the immediate area. All of this is designed to inform local people of the application and seek their views.
