Giant Olympic Rings unveiled

The latest set of giant Olympic Rings has been unveiled on the entrance to the Channel Tunnel in France. The Rings have been <a href="http://www.london2012.com/news/2011/12/giant-olympic-rings-unveiled-at-channel-tunnel-entrance.php">placed at the entrance of the Tunnel</a> in Coquelles in northern France. One of the world's most recognisable symbols, they will be seen by hundreds of thousands of fans who are travelling on Eurostar trains to St Pancras International.

Open Weekend 2011 in Birmingham

During <a href="http://www.london2012.com/open-weekend">Open Weekend 2011</a> there were a number of events taking place in Birmingham. 'Jamaica Live' marked a year to go until the Jamaican Track and Field team will train in the city, and featured free live music, storytelling, art activities and cooking demonstrations. 'Breathe the Beat' also showed new way of learning to dance as part of the weekend celebrations, while 'Circus in the City' featured an array of circus skills for young people to try.

Open Weekend 2011 – London 2012 film sets world record

The Tate Movie Project’s '<a href="http://www.london2012.com/news/2011/07/london-2012-film-sets-new-guinness-world-record.php">The Itch of the Golden Nit</a>' has entered the record books ahead of being screened across the UK to celebrate <a href="http://www.london2012.com/open-weekend">Open Weekend 2011</a>. A part of the London 2012 <a href="http://www.london2012.com/cultural-olympiad">Cultural Olympiad</a>, the film project achieved a Guinness World Record for the most individual contributions to an animated film, with a total of 1,897 people selected for involvement in the process. Guiness' Gareth Deaves presented the world record certificate at an event in Trafalgar Square during Open Weekend.

Trinity Buoy Wharf opened its doors for the Summer Arts Festival as part of <a href="http://www.london2012.com/open-weekend">Open Weekend 2011</a>. Over the course of the weekend, the Arts Quarter in London played host to a fantastic variety of exhibitions, tours, workshops and live music - including an exciting musical show by the Grand Union Orchestra and arts workshops for children.

Open Weekend’s Search Party saw over 1500 clue-seekers descend on East London, attempting to find their way to a fantastic party. This year's <a href="http://www.london2012.com/open-weekend">London 2012 Open Weekend</a>, supported by BP, took place on 22–24 July. Celebrating one year to go to the Games, it featured art, dance, film, sport events and more. With more than 1,000 events taking place, there was something for everyone!

Olympic gold medallist Jonathan Edwards, Olympic mascot Wenlock and Pineapple Dance Studios founder Debbie Moore OBE look on as a class at the Pineapple Dance Studios in London is held to mark <a href="open-weekend">Open Weekend 2011</a>. Hundreds of thousands of people across the UK will be participating at more than 1,200 unique sporting and cultural events to celebrate the countdown to the Olympic and Paralympic Games as part of Open Weekend.
