London 2012 mascots celebrate School Games at Downing Street Christmas party

London 2012 mascots Wenlock and Mandeville joined Father Christmas at a special party at Downing Street to celebrate the School Games. Pupils and staff from participating schools, the Secretary of State Jeremy Hunt and sports stars Audley Harrison, Mark Foster and Jason Gardener also attended the event. <a href="https://www.yourschoolgames.com/RegisterYourSchool.aspx" target="_blank">The School Games</a> is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive sport. The Prime Minister David Cameron said: 'The School Games are a great way to encourage young people to play more competitive sport, as well as getting involved in the excitement around the Olympic and Paralympic Games.'

Children born on 20/12 Day celebrate seventh birthday

Children in the London 2012 Children's Promise scheme today <a href="http://www.london2012.com/press/media-releases/2011/12/children-born-on-20-12-day-2004-celebrate-seventh-birthd.php">celebrated their seventh birthday </a>at an event hosted at John Lewis, Westfield Stratford City. The children were excited to meet Olympic mascot Wenlock, Jonathan Edwards, Kelly Sotherton and Lawrence Okoye, and also received a special London 2012 birthday cake.

Get Set network Ticketshare milestone reached

A London school has become the 10,000th to qualify for tickets to the London 2012 Games donated through the ‘Ticketshare’ scheme. <a href="http://www.london2012.com/news/2011/12/milestone-reached-as-10-000th-school-qualifies-for-ticke.php">St Jude’s Church of England Primary School in Lambeth has secured their allocation</a> by joining the London 2012 Get Set network, which recognises and rewards schools’ commitment to the Olympic and Paralympic Values. The milestone was celebrated at the school with a visit by two-time Paralympic bronze medallist Sinclair Thomas.

Seb Coe launches London 2012 Speakers for Schools Week

Seb Coe visits children at Oak Lodge School in Wandsworth to speak to help launch a special week of Olympic and Paralympic figures giving talks in state schools and colleges. The schools and colleges taking part in the London 2012 Speakers for Schools Week are all part of the <a href="http://getset.london2012.com/en/home" target="_blank">Get Set network</a>, in recognition of their work to incorporate the Olympic and Paralympic Values into their curriculum.

London 2012 mascots Wenlock and Mandeville enjoy the autumn sunshine as they pay a visit to the Olympic Stadium. The Stadium is located in the south of the Olympic Park on an 'island' site, surrounded by waterways on three sides.
