"Belief in the power of sport has been part of me for as long as I can remember. I believe that sport can bring people together from all walks of life, and from anywhere in the world. In 2008, I volunteered my time to launch a community-based global sports tournament with a focus on third-world countries. As a volunteer director, I managed the strategic marketing plan for this tournament and helped ~1000 athletes compete in Nairobi, Kenya ? a location that brought its own set of benefits and challenges. There were times when the team was tasked with responsibilities and logistical issues that we thought were too much to overcome. However, we each pulled for and supported each other ? and the collective ""group-think"" overcame any doubts that we had. What resulted was a sporting event where athletes and young people came together to share in an experience that they will never forget."
