Teri's nomination story

"The 92 in 92 team consists of 5 people they start fundraising in 2010 for the Downs Syndrome Association. The team were inspired by the team Captain and his wife when thier daughter Taylor was borne with Downs Syndrome. The team who had never done any fund raising before set about looking for an extremely challanging and different event to raise funds. They decided on visiting all 92 football league clubs in England and Wales in 92 hours! This took the team over 2500miles around the county driving non stop for four and half days. The driving was done by just 3 of the team with the other 3 people holding the fort at the challange HQ. The team learned new and exciting skills such as website building, and also developing a nack for never taking no for an answer and pushed local companies sponsorship. The team managed to rasie over £4000 for their first ever attempt. The team used social networking sites to gain over 2000 followers during the challange and collected donations from the clubs en route. The team didnt know if the challange was at all possible to complete in the 92 hours and only thanks to there hard work and determination did they manage to do it but they did it in 89hours and 15mins. The DSA had said they had never seen such commitment to such an unusual way of fund raising. one of the team went on to be runner up in the new volunteer of the year catagory at the BT chairmans awards for his work on this challenge."
