Stuart's nomination story

"I spent 15 years (1995 - 2010) as a volunteer at the 155th Boys Brigade company. I assisted every Friday in leading a group of 20 boys (aged 11-16), giving them opportunities to participate in a range of sports and creative activities, badge work and camping trips. Since 2010 I have been volunteering at fundraising events for Cancer Research UK. This included volunteering at a Race for Life event in Hyde Park, Shine (an overnight walking marathon), and this month I volunteered at Sound & Vision, an event at Abbey Road Studios. At the London Marathon in April I will be volunteering for Sense, escorting runners after completing the race to a function at a nearby celebratory lunch. For the London Olympics I will be a Games Maker volunteer, part of the Venue Entry team at Royal Greenwich Park. I am hoping to do a similar role at the Paralympics."
