"I have worked at Birmingham Children`s Hospital for the last 20 years. Nine years ago I began helping with the transplant Team and eight years ago became the team manager, a voluntary role. The UK Transplant Games aims to raise public awareness of the benefits of organ donation and transplantation in adults and children. As the team manager I am responsible for the recruitment of competitors and organisation of the whole team entry, the logistics of arranging funding, accommodation, transport and being on hand for the 30 or so families attending from our hospital to ensure the weekend runs smoothly and everyone has a wonderful time. The transplant games is an amazing experience for everyone its an opportunity for transplant recipients to meet others who share their life experiences, make friends and celebrate life after transplant. Being involved with the transplant games gives me the chance to promote organ donation through the success of the wonderful children in our team."
