Robbie's nomination story

"I am 14 years old and living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. All my muscles are getting weaker and at the moment there is no cure. I have used a powered wheelchair since I was 11. My condition does not however stop me getting on with life. Sometimes you have to do things differently as your body gets weaker and when something just becomes too difficult then it is time to find something new. I have kayaked in Scotland, had water fights on the Dordogne, snorkelled in the sea and flown kites on beaches. I play the guitar and have taken up archery. I like science and my aim is to go to university. I think you should just go for it! Acorns is a great place where you do not have to fight your condition on your own and you can explore new interests and meet other boys with Duchenne."
