"Rick was a physical theatre performer and competitive cheerleader when he was injured in a workplace accident in 2008, leaving him needing a wheelchair to get around. He went through some really tough times; unemployment, depression, homelessness and relationship breakdown. However he`s hard to keep down and he decided to get back to cheerleading and has since performed in the UK, Paris and Florida, as the world's first Wheelchair Partner Stunt cheerleader. So many cheerleaders have been inspired by Rick, including coaches who have gone on to develop their own special needs teams and to get their kids trying stunts, and also other disabled people who are now `having a go` at something they never thought was possible. He is also an ambassador for disabled cycling charity, Wheels for Wellbeing, and performs with a disabled/disadvantaged circus group called Cirque Nova."
