"I have had a passion for community work since I was a child. I really started to get involved during my teens and over the years I have worked with young people, promoting tolerance, understanding and achievement to individuals and groups, be they young or old, the homeless, day centres with the vulnerable, women, children and fundraising for victims of disasters. We all have something to offer and I am no exception. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with the people I have met ? I have benefited more from them than they from me. No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks and I am grateful for being able to give a little time for worthwhile causes. It would be magnificent if I was selected for this wonderful opportunity, especially as I started off by volunteering at a local Day Care Centre with disabled adults."
